Re: Crassula Alstonii - Tips Please
I find this is not the easiest plant. It can scorch if too hot, but doesn't like deep shade either. It's also pretty slow. So, I suggest dappled sun, and not to overdo the water. Most of my Crassulas get some water all year round.

Agreed. It hardly gives confidence that the people doing this work were familiar with the plants, or thorough in their methods.Paul D wrote:The paper is full of nomenclature mistakes (or typos). Doesn't fill me with confidence.

Here's the paper I was referring to: American Journal of Botany 94(8): 1321–1332. 2007. Re: Rebutia identification
Yes, could be kesselringiana - although that has lemon yellow flowers, but this looks more orange. Perhaps just the photo.
I hadn't seen that Romanian paper, but its conclusions are at odds with other more recent work showing Rebutia to be quite distinct to Aylostera.

Actually, probably a better candidate might be R. wessneriana.

Peter I wouldn't mind a piece of your kratochviliana if you would care to exchange a cutting for something from my swaps page. http://ralph.cs.cf.ac.uk/Cacti/forsale.php However, I think the names may have got ixed up along the way. While there is an Echinopsis kratochviliana, I have never heard of ...
