Re: Seed pack labelling
A pdf download would be useful. I used to use one either as download or scan of paper version to use in my database of what I had planted rather than type the names out (often incorrectly).

Re: Today at Wythenshawe
In the afternoon we cleared out a short section of plants that were duplicates and were growing in a bed we wanted to raise up by about 250mm ( 10in ) . First we removed the top soil and threw in 250mm of large pebbles and gravel ( photo 1 ) Being careful not to damage the Blue Cycad alongside us (...

Insect ID please
2024-01-28 17-21-03 (C,S4).jpg I was taking a sequence of images of Titanopsis calcarea v fullerii (below) and this little creature crept cautiously across a few frames, not sufficiently to be in clear focus for focus stacking of the 73 frames, but enough to annoy me. Its ID would be appreciated. I...

Re: BCSS AGM 2024 - Unappealing photo!

Google maps does show pleasant images of the street and playing field, but not the building itself. Perhaps an attendee will take a picture for next year?????

I agree. Don't judge a book by its cover may be the maxim, but marketing is a most important skill, especially for small and specialist organisations like ours.

Re: This Last Week
I think my main concern is the impending storm. Last time the storm picked up one of my lighter garden benches and carried it down the garden. A previous one picked up a larger wooden structure which was anchored down, approximately 70kg and carried that a few yards. Greenhouses and moving objects h...

Re: This Last Week
I would agree with comments about dryness ... temperature ... survival. I'm only a few miles away in Leeds but the humidity here has fluctuated wildly since Christmas from 77% to 99%. I'm expecting devastation but not worrying about it until winter concludes and at that point I'll be philosophical a...
