Re: Small Opuntia ID’s please

Thanks Tony I think you’re right. I did wonder as they do look similar to the rest of my fragilis hybrids. I guess I’ll know more when they eventually flower.

Re: Small Opuntia ID’s please

Thanks Mike, that was my thought too. Both are in full sun for about 10 hours a day. I have a few other basilaris that all have the usually blue / green tingle which is why I had my doubts about this one. Will wait for flowers to see if that clears things up a bit :)

That's good that know, thank you. I won't spend the summer in a vain hope that my larger fragilis will flower then!
 I know the feeling! I have a bunch of small fragilis types that I was hoping would flower this year but it seems they prefer to put out pads and grow a little first.

Re: Opuntia grown outside - progress.

Thanks edds, I doubt it but there is always a chance! In my experience with most opuntia though is flowers before new pads or at least at the same time.

Small Opuntia ID’s please

I’m not convinced the labels on these two are correct, or maybe they both got mixed up? Can anyone confirm my suspicions please or do they look correct? Thanks, Mark. Re: Mammillaria haudeana

Lovely plant, Mark, well done! But now, in Graham Evans' fine review of a recent DNA study,in totday's Cactus & Succulent Review, he tells us that we should now be calling this Cochemiea saboae subsp. haudeana but does add "Will you be changing your labels? That's entirely up to you!" My mammillari...
