Re: Seed Pool updated

I sent some succulents in but they're all gone! I'll get the tickling brush out again ... ::o

Now if someone would just ID my Anacampseros, they could go to the seed pool. Hint, hint ;)

Re: Aztekium hintonii vs. Aztekium ritteri

Mesemb seed varies from very small to dust-like, most germinates quickly, anything from a few days to a few weeks. Strombocactus seed should germinate within a month at most, if it is going to germinate at all.

Re: Mrs Malachite

I was thinking the same thing, not very yellow. The colouring, at least on my screen, is more the grey-brown of a normal C351 L. salicola. If you have multiple grey-brown plants from Malachite seed then their offspring is likely to produce some yellow plants.

Re: Anacampseros (incl seed) for ID

I have Rowley's book with its key and description of the species. There is little doubt that it is A. telephiastrum, A. retusus, or A. rufescens but I'm not sure which. Here are some smaller seedlings, they are more hairy than the larger plants. These plants are 10mm-20mm across. [img]http://nartowi...

Re: Advice for Lithops mums-to-be

I also like to extract the seeds dry, they are easier to get clear of the capsule and easier to manipulate afterwards. The capsule is of course destroyed by this. Spraying water on them is fun though, sometimes they will open in just very humid conditions :)

Re: my conservatory

According to the latest validly published descriptions, plants with fully opening flowers in pink and white shades are G. stenopleurum while G. mihanovichii only applies to plants with yellow-brown flowers that rarely open fully. I'm sure this is reflected in the NCL because I don't think anyone has...

Re: What's a good information source?

I find most written sources are horribly vague about the specifics of cultivating different species. Probably because to be more precise would mean being flat wrong for some people! I can say what works for me, what I find difficult, and its all true :)

Anacampseros (incl seed) for ID

Here's my baby Anacampseros again. Not A. comptonii as labelled, but hopefully worthy of a name.
