That's another sneaky thing about Cactus .... they hide the buds until you leave home.
They have a 6th sense .... they know when you are away from home .... and they get at the Tequila etc .... that's why they are fully open on your return.

The colour of the flower appears to be a warm yellow, such as the light cast by a candle. There are worse descriptors for yellow.
The opening flower resembles a candle flame was what I read ... but still in daylight
