Re: C & S survey

Yes Aiko that’s almost word for word what I added. And I also added the relentless damage done by grazing animals - well goats mainly. Having seen whole hillsides grazed to death in Argentina to the point where the difference between a grazed area and an area next to it which wasn’t grazed as it was...

Re: Germination

Yes it is. What I have noticed over the years is that some clones set seed and some don’t seem to. If I’m feeling Ken this year I will try to cross pollinate some with a brush to see if that helps.

Re: Germination

Cheating Tony they are not ‘in’ 6cm pots they just start out in one.......but you are right treating them mean gets them flowering. Re: Germination

How old does a Tunilla have to be before it will flower? Well it all depends where and how they are grown I find. Maybe 5 years if given good light and a cool dry winter rest. Like a lot of clumping plants they grow exponentially so the first few years they seem slow but once they get to fill a 5” ...

The Tunillas I get to set seeds in the UK do have juicy fruits which split open to reveal seeds in a red jelly. I think I posted a photo of one last year.

Re: Germination

Seed quality is also a factor here I believe. The T alexanderii and mollinensis seed I brought back in 2008 germinated very well with nothing other than my usual sowing methods (as did the Tunilla seed) but over the years a lot of purchased seed has provided very mixed (or zero) results. I have one ...
