Re: ID for these three plants please
No. 2 might be Mammillaria compressa.

Re: Coryphantha Andreae discolouration
Probably red spider mites. Like mealy bugs they always seem to know which is the opposite side of the plant from the viewer, so that by the time you know they are there they have multiplied and the damage is done!

Re: ID for Cactus in Majorca
Thanks Paul - I should have recalled the photo of yours that I saw recently! I think I do have a very much smaller one in my greenhouse, but I am aware that very mature specimens don't necessarily just look like much bigger versions of their more juvenile form.

ID for Cactus in Majorca
A friend has been holidaying in Majorca and there was this cactus in the garden of the property. He thought it was about 5-6m tall. Unfortunately he missed the flower opening during the night. Can anyone put a likely name to it. There is nothing quite like this in my greenhouse!! IMG_4266.jpg IMG_41...

Re: Can anyone ID these plants?
The first one could be Gymnocalycium bruchii if those heads are quite small.
The second one might be a Mammillaria gracilis cv.'Arizona Snowcap', though it looks a bit bloated and/or possibly not had good light.
I can only guess as to a Thelocactus for the third one.

Could it be one of the lesser monstrose forms of Lophocereus schottii?

Re: Poor timing
How old and how large a plant needs to be before it flowers often depends very much on the individual plant and /or its individual growing conditions. No need to be too pessimistic about getting your 'pachanoi' to flower, and worrying about whether it will do it before it reaches the top of your gre...

Re: When is the "best" time to repot?
I have always assumed that winter was best as the plants (nearly all cacti) were dormant and root damage would heal before any watering took place. However, even if that does not matter I would still stick with winter as I have more spare time to do it then.

Re: A flower at last - but what is it now called?
Hi Ray, Thanks very much for all the information and particularly for the correct spelling of albisaetacens . That explains why I couldn't find any mention of the plant when I searched using the incorrectly spelt name on the label! I haven't moved the plant recently - in fact it has been in the same...
