Re: Another first timer

After weeks of gloomy days, we have a sunny morning and a bud open on my mystery "bulbispina".
What do people think to Ray's suggestion of Corynopuntia bulbispina ssp. basileocephala?

Re: Uhlig sell nice plants- Astrophytum now settled in.

I’ve had some nice plants from Uhlig too. My impression this year though is that the selection has been massively reduced. I’ve bought Echinopsis hybrids from them before and this year their selection is tiny. I expected the online catalogue to get bigger, under covid, but apparently not so.

Bonus NoID

Incorrectly labelled plants bought online are usually a disappointment.
Not this one. Bought as “Weingartia pulquinensis” this is clearly an Echinopsis/lobivia hybrid, and quite an attractive gentle colour blend at that.
A poor photo, sorry, in this horrible overcast July weather.

Re: Echinopsis For Norma

Very nice Stuart. This is one of the missing four in my attempt to complete the set, so please put me in the queue for an offset, if you ever get any.

Re: Cacti Economics and the 20th century dream

I reckon the cactus nurserymen in the UK are doing a great job, a wonderful service to the hobby, and next time you go to a Cactus Mart, maybe Spalding or Herne Bay next April, everyone should support our nurserymen by buying as many plants as possible and literally shower them with money. Stuart I...

Re: Cacti Economics and the 20th century dream

What a strange post. Is this a dig at people selling plants, or a genuine question from someone thinking of setting up a small business? Or some thing else? The ‘turnover’ figures don’t state a time period. If that is weekly, then £400 profit a week is good income for many people. It is more than so...

Re: Another first timer

I’m open to suggestions. It came named as such but has much bigger growth habit than another plant I have labelled as bulbispina. I had thought there may be two clones.
Thoughts?
