Re: Damaged cutting advice
I’ve not seen videos for the horizontal grafts. I did one recently and rather winged it. I just made sure the scion had A little vascular tissue and that this crossed over the vascular layer on the root stock. I’m not sure this is totally necessary, more skilled grafters will tell. In my case it was...

Re: Damaged cutting advice
I’d be tempted to cut it afresh. That doesn’t look healthy. I might then take slices from that bottom 2” and graft, if you have some available rootstock. Several trichocerei I’ve bought off the continent recently have been rib grafts. You tend to get one offset from each areole. On a related matter,...

Going to be a NoID
Many of my Schicks are about to burst. In the picture there are three plants labelled as Lochinvar, third from left front row, one row back just to the left from that and then the one behind that just to the right. The middle one is going to have a yellow flower, the other two are correct. Interesti...

Re: greenhouse shading???
My slightly Heath Robinson solution in a new greenhouse. The house wall is at the north end of the greenhouse and I was getting scorch on Agaves, so rigged this up. The netting is building debris net, which I use for keeping birds off my cherries and for covering reseeded cricket pitches to reduce w...

Tephrocactus mandragora minuta
The weather is not great atthe moment, but this tiny gem keeps trying...
I've had this a few years and it's never looked super healthy. This is the first time it has flowered.
That's a 6cm pot - it really does live up to the name "minuta" in my collection.

Re: Variations on a Picotee theme!
12cm Soparco octagonal pots are available from Woodside cacti, at least I hope they are as I ordered 200 from there today. They are not the cheapest pots, but very good quality.
The Razzle Dazzle hybrids are great. I’ve had some open for 4 days recently.
