I've sown seed of this this year from the same source and was hoping for at least reddish purples! Oh well at least the normal colour is so pretty!

what should I be looking for if I take it out of its pot? Little or no roots, possibly dark/black roots that come off in your hands, check the base of the stem is solid and, as Ali said, possibly root mealy bug.
