Cacti genera overview sources

I recently had a pretty hard nut to crack while choosing seeds from the Forum Seed List - which cacti to choose?! This made me wonder if there exists a pretty generic, maybe even just (?) morphological overview of the most popular cacti genera and species? Something, that would answer questions like...

Re: Anacampseros seeds with baggy method - (yet more) clarification questions

Thank you Ian! I chose the species mostly visually as I had not even a single cacti, sad to hear they are slow growers! May I ask for a bit of clarification below? [...] The mesembs not so long, I bring them into the fresh air soon after germination seems complete. Is there an upper limit for their ...

Re: May 2020 - Virtual Table Show

I did say in an earlier comment that I would be judging photographs rather than plants, not sure which entries are old/difficult to grow so I my shortlist of potential winning images were entries from (in no particular order) MarDz, HaoBao, rodsmith and el48tel. After much switching between tabs wi...

[...] and stand back so you don't get hit by the rapid growth. I see what you mean, less than 96 hours and they already have 10 mm! May I ask if there is anything on the list below (that I sowed in this round) that would need much different treatment than "wait until germination and gradually ...

Re: Anacampseros seeds with baggy method - (yet more) clarification questions

For clarity I will reply to my own post rather than editing the original one. After closer inspection of the photos I think the white, fuzzy "things" are actually roots of the seedlings. They all start where roots should be (clearly visible on the one that fell over) and every seedling see...

Anacampseros seeds with baggy method - (yet more) clarification questions

Hello Everyone! I am 4 days after sowing my first batch of BCSS and MSG seeds and already have some germination! I have used the famous "baggy method" (or at least its close approximation): "Sterilised" the soil in an oven (85-90 degrees for 30 minutes) - quotation marks as it ap...

Re: Rooting Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. Fukurokuryuzinboku

No I didn't mean 'wouldn't' but its only advice you don't have to take it, the stem once plump wouldn't leave much space for soil in a 2" pot. You need to bury quite a lot of the stem to give stability, its never going to be happy just slightly buried & wobbling, there is quite a bit of we...

Re: Rooting Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. Fukurokuryuzinboku

Hi I think 2" would be much to small, my smaller/shorter one is in 3.5 & tallest in 4" but of course its your choice, 2" would give it much root space. I guess you meant "wouldn't" re. the 2"? The rooted one has really tiny roots at moment, taking definitely less t...

Re: May 2020 - Virtual Table Show

Not exactly the most exciting specimen I guess, but it's my first flower ever, so I am excited! Photo made with my mobile, so far from professionalism of others, but must do for now, apologies. 6.5 cm cheap plastic pot it came with, still waiting for clay ones to arrive. https://i.imgur.com/c7WONMd....
