Re: Pest ID please!
The SB stuff won't kill them instantly so I wouldn't worry about them crawling off. It seems really important to spray all the surfaces which is tricky with bigger, multi-headed plants.

Re: Patience
Good to know they can still root after so long. I have an Echinopsis pup that hasn't rooted still after buying it in February!

Re: Pest ID please!
I have sprayed repeatedly over the last few weeks with SB invigorator and also Ultra Bug Clear but doesn’t seem to be helping. Any ideas please? I agree with Wolfgang that they are mealies. I find I need to treat with SB consecutively on a number of days if I can see any mealies - one dose a fortni...

Re: Epiphyllum anguliger coming into bloom
Glad you posted - I thought I could see buds coming on mine today and thought they couldn't be as it was so long after the hybrids!
Enjoy the fruit!

Re: Favourite cacti genus?
I'd cheat and say Echinopsis as, depending on whose classification you go with, it seems to cover about half the cacti going and all my favourite hybrids! 'Rebutia' in the widest sense, would cover almost all the others I grow apart from some Opuntia!

Re: Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight, UK
I don't think there's been a huge amount of recent weeding looking at the grounds! Looks like they've been short-handed for a while - perhaps an impact of the pandemic? Having said that though, I can't see that area would have had significant amounts of brambles as it is on main path and they're pre...

Re: Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight, UK
Until he comes along, I pitch in that I believe it is Agave mitis and the spike has become congested/deformed in some way. That's interesting Paul! I would not have thought that but don't doubt you're right! This plant was in a shaded spot, next to a path on a slope and slightly more exposed than s...

Re: Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight, UK
I managed to take some more photos that I can crop on our second visit to the garden. While the succulents are fairly limited there are some amazing agave, aloe and Opuntia in different spots and a few Aeonium too. The palms, tropicals, Echium pinninana and Agapanthus throughout the garden are great...
