Re: A peek under the covers.
I’ve detected a large amount of misunderstanding about frost protection on social media this winter. Fleece covering of plants will protect them from ‘ground frost’ but it will not insulate plants from long periods of ‘air frost’. The internet is full of better explanations of the difference than I ...

Re: Pterbocharged Pterocactus seed
Congrats!. I will be sowing mine in a couple of weeks. With regards pricking out. Last year I pricked out the early germinators from my sowings of australis and gonjanii and returned the pots to the propagator. In both cases another seedling popped up and I left this one in the seed pot undisturbed...

Pterbocharged Pterocactus seed
Less than ten days after sowing, I’ve just moved a pot of Pterocactus hickenii seedlings from the hot and humid propagater (25c) to the warm and drier one (13c). I sowed the three seeds (ADLBPS) on the 5th. The first germinated after four days and yesterday it looked like the final seed was just pus...

Re: Updated seed lists
It took a bit longer this year for the Dutch society of Succulenta to publish its seed list, but you can now find it at www.succulenta.nl/zaadlijst/. The excel file to order will follow shortly. But at least you can already have a look. The excel file is there by now. So you can start ordering, if ...

Re: 2022 seed list
We received our seeds today. Thanks to everyone involved with the seed list. Mine have arrived too. An excellent turn around and a credit to the organisers. Most were planted last night, except the Opuntiodes, half of each pack of which were put into my giberellic acid (GA) soak test overnight (pic...

Re: Copiapoa haul from Cactusland
The Copiapoas there are an excellent reason to make a trip. As you say, the prices are generally good too.
I’m just over an hour north and so can get down there every spring, when the Echinopsis families are flowering.

Re: Did Santa bring a cactus and succulents related gift?
Santa brought me a nice set of soil sieves.
Not a decorative as some of the above, but as I now recycle most of my mineral based compost, a very welcome addition to the greenhouse.
