Re: Adeneum obsesum- talking point
It's worth remembering that the common "Ikea" Ficus "Ginseng" is a graft of F. retusa onto F. microcarpa, which is cheating a bit, a rather good explanation here: https://adamaskwhy.com/2014/09/24/this-was-a-ginseng-ficus-now-stfu-about-them-not-being-good-bonsai-subjects/ Also,...

Re: Adeneum obsesum- talking point
Looking again at it, the majority of what can be seen seems to have originally been root, making it highly likely to be a plant raised (apologies for the pun) in the tropics, somewhere. Does root tend to stay green????? They do the same with Ficus to achieve the same sort of effect - https://www.ike...

Re: Adeneum obsesum- talking point
Take a look on YouTube for videos about the plant in the Far East - places like Indonesia. Many will amaze or horrify you. The nearest thing I could compare to would be something like willow Bonsai - indestructible and grow like weeds. One or two websites offer a proffusion of different cultivars as...

Plant Labels
As mentioned elsewhere, my stock of Rowland labels is running low.................. Rather extreme maybe, but I am in the process of changing to black labels using an engraver to write on them. OK, I already had the engraver, so that expense was avoided, but this sort of thing - https://www.amazon.c...

Re: Cleistocactus???
The question mark says it all, and not in connection with the spelling.
Someone uses my plant label shorthand - probably grown from seed (maybe a cutting from an unflowered parent), from GC (probably Graham Charles), who was unsure of exactly what it was.
The label shouts "lottery"!

Re: Keeping Euphorbia globosa globose
As an experiment over a single plant a cool white (high blue) LED would be worth trying - wouldn't cost much. Using an LED, there would be almost no heat, so it could sit very close to the plant. I do not know the answer either, but how do the same plants look grown in S Spain or Italy, compare with...

Re: Cleistocactus???
Writing labels here, if I write "ex" it means that I have collected the seed from whatever comes after the "ex" (could be a place, could be a plant).
Maybe a similar principle?

Re: Bloody typical
Copper wire and tape, aluminium tape ( it's cheaper) all work perfectly if there's two rings 1/4 " or so apart connected to a 9v battery. I used crocodile clips on tape tabs. The slug/snail makes the circuit. Without the battery, forget it. I would suggest that an electic fence (circuit) works...

Agreed, the flower does, but Cleistocactus brookeae is erect, not lax.Minime8484 wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 8:54 pm That looks like Cleistocactus brookeae, not Hildewinteria aureispina (=C. winteri).

Re: Cleistocactus???
Could be an unusual clone of what it is labelled as.
The flower looks perfectly "fertilisable" (by moths? hummers?).
The CIC reference needs tracing.
