Re: Aloe pictures

That Gonialoe sladeniana is a super plant. Nowehere as easy to grow as G. variegata. I'm on the look out for G. dinteri if anyone has one spare or ever comes across one.

Re: Handling opuntia

I visited Worfield Gardens when I was a kid, and got Sir Oliver to autograph his Desert Plants book for me. The other thing I remember most about my visit was a bunch of (British) geriatrics dressed up in ponchos and sombreros, as a Mexican band playing music (I suppose for the tea room).

I'll send Ian a message to let him know his site is down.

Re: H. cv Phoenix?

Good range of different flowers in that lot, Mike, disproving the "All small aloes have similar flowers" mantra.

Re: Baobab seed pre treatment

I sowed some seed earlier this year, and got 2 plants from 5 seeds without pretreatment. I don't know where I would find space for 5 baobabs, anyway.

Re: Unusual Homalocephala

With luck, it's an offset, although I have what may be described as woolly warts develop on a similar way on Rebutias - somewhat misshaped, and with areoles with wool rather than spines. I presume they are rather like the lumps you see on trees sometimes, which I believe are caused by a bacterial in...
