They do put on a good show even from a very small plant as you say.

They are both rather nice.
I have rather a love hate relationship with Epiphyllums but their sins are forgiven when in flower.

I bought several Turbinicarpus seedlings from Nick Gash around five years ago, the rest of the plants have been doing well growing and flowering in the way nice young Turbs do. Nice old plant with super flowers that deserves a bit of love and to be let out from beneath its bench I would say.

At shows I have seen a Gymnocalycium bodenbenderianum approaching that size, but I am not sure they grow this large as a general rule. They are so slow anyway! I am fairly sure I‘ve seen Gymno horstii reaching this size, they are certainly nice chunky plants with attractive white flowers. I thought...

Both great plants and not using up a great deal of house room, I think I prefer the solitary plant which shows its age better in the photographs.

Flowers fully opened on 25th March 2021. Seed was sown on 17th December 2019. So seed sown to flower in 15 months and 8 days!
