Re: Wasn't expecting this ....
No, no, no - my thoughts were only for inspiring filming of night-blooming plants, not these diurnal things! Yes yes yes .... I know, but conversely, with such poor weather, it seemed reasonable to assume, based on your argument, that "these diurnal things" would benefit from incre...

Wasn't expecting this ....
neo-1_2.mp4 I'm indebted to Pattock, for his thoughts on illumination whilst plants are flowering. I noticed that this Neoportia was about to flower; I had to be away from home; I needed to start the video as the flower started to open and not rely on guesswork and a delay timer for technical reaso...

Yes a single colour LED would no doubt work, and my lighting kit would provide whatever colour I specified, but then trying to make sense of the video production, subsequently, would be a different matter.
Training hawkmoths sounds a fascinating project.

Re: Setiechinopsis mirabilis ..... and quite a few questions - part 2
What I mean is could you see the stigma without tearing open the flower? In the first flower .... yes, but isn't it so tiny? In the second flower this morning .... it would require harsh manipulation ..... so I didn't bother. I'm not optimistic. Last cross pollination failed, as the one before, and...

Re: Setiechinopsis mirabilis ..... and quite a few questions - part 2
Did you find pollination straightforward? This photo from a few years ago shows the stigma sunk very low into the flower. This was taken early morning, though, so maybe the style contracts during the night. P6030092.jpg I expect to be able to answer your question in a day or so. Only tried in the e...
