Vlad Andrenkov has sent me his VA numbers, which are now in the database.
Thanks, Vlad!

Re: Orostachys
Where I have seen them growing wild in China, they probably get rain all the year round. They dont come from deserts. They probably go dormant due to cold, not because of lack of water.

Re: Field Number Database - more additions
I've now added many GBG numbers, from the German Brazil Group. These are of the form GBG81/100, etc.

To see who was in the GBG, search for GBG on the collector finder page

Re: Orostachys
Hi Eric
China? Japan? That's where they come from...
I've seen one species growing wild on old walls in China.
They are short lived, and flower themselves to death - but form offsets before they do so, if you are lucky.
Sorry my answer is not more helpful.

Re: Opuntia
I have wanted to buy plants from Michael before but as I don't speak German I can never figure out where to go on his website for postage cost and if he takes PayPal If you use the Google Chrome browser, it will offer to translate pages in foreign languages for you. This can be one way to order fro...

Re: Remote wireless thermometers
Just found these folks who are UK based https://www.lascarelectronics.com/easylog-data-logger-el-gfx-2/ All look to be wi fi so will need to drop them an email to see if any work via Ethernet This one appears to just be a data logger - i.e. it will record temperatures to its internal memory, over a...

Re: Remote wireless thermometers
if you are handy with electronics  you can build yourself a wifi connected thingy for peanuts - you need an ESP8266 board (e.g. nodemcu) to do the wifi and run a basic webserver, and a DHT11 temperature / humidity sensor. The bits should cost well under a tenner from eBay etc.. Some ideas on h...
