Re: Chamaelobivia 2024
That's quite a display you are getting indoors. Do you give a cold rest or stop watering over the winter to trigger flowering? They get no water from a couple of weeks before the Christmas holidays until a week or two after but are watered a little for the rest of the winter. The room gets down to ...

Chamaelobivia 2024
Got off to a cheeky early start thanks to some overwintered buds in my office.
Chamaelobivia 'Edith' was in flower today. 'Lincoln Tango' is only a few days away from starting flowering too.

Re: Agave talk & pictures
My seedlings are coming along.
Thought I'd post this as it shows a real range of sizes of the seedlings. The first ones to pop through are just starting to form their first true lead.

Re: Southfields today
Even better, wait a month when more hybrids will be in flower and combine it with a trip to Spalding Cactus Mart on 20th April. Stuart A very good idea but there were a small range in flower yesterday! (Neoporteria and Stenocactus) And the odd Rebutia and Cleistocatus with some more showing buds.

Southfields today
Popped into Southfields today for their retirement sale. Have to say I was fearing it would feel a bit run down but not at all. In the main set there was as much choice as ever (if not more as they are clearing out their stock). Also lots of their seed grown Echinopsis, Chamaelobivia and Rebutia rea...

Re: The tiniest greenhouse tour
Good display. Same as Juster I use a mix but I have found the 6" and 7" square BEF pots to be quite deep and best for planta like Aloe, Agave and big Trichocereus hybrids - I think they're too deep for anything with shallower roots.

Re: Plant ID please
Terry I got halfway through a post last night and never completed it, sorry! As Diane said, definitely an Aeonium but as well as ciliatum, it looks a bit like some young davidbramwellii plants I have here so it could be them or some other tree-like species like one of the arboreum subspecies instead...

Re: Help with this poor Echiveria
Looking at the white roots I think you may have a decent chance of saving this. First of all you need to clean it up and make sure that there is no dead, black soggy parts left. Then I would place this, without compost, resting in a clay pot. In a week or so, if it hasn't got any more dark or black ...
