Re: plants from Africa- Passport required?

I understood that if it's a commercial seller a passport has to be provided no matter where the plants come from or how they are sold. The "commercial seller" bit says it all.

Re: Disposing of spent Agave

You can chop it up into small pieces and keep dropping a bit or two into litter bins.

Or

Take it to the local recycle centre (tu)

Or

Dry it off, season it, then make a walking stick (tu) (tu)

I had one of these last year and just left it alone. The new leaves eventually took over and the plant is fine now.

Re: Ihlenfeldtia excavata 'Albirosea'

If they were all called "Sid" then you wouldn't know which ones to order. If you want one of these you order a Sid. If you want a different plant you order a Tom, Dick or Harry or even a Gladys etc. We'll leave the Latin stuff to the OCD Taxonomists  I was pondering if Taxonomists o...

Re: Lights for succulents?

Only really needed for growing plants indoors or for out-of-season propagation. Not needed for general succulent plant culture. It might be worth trying them for some of the winter-growing plants, e.g. Bulbine species, which can grow quite untypically in our climate compared to back home in RSA; al...

Re: Ihlenfeldtia excavata 'Albirosea'

I have it labelled Cheiridopsis albirosea SB772 as that is how I acquired it.

Is the correct name Ihlenfeldtia excavata 'Albirosea' or Ihlenfeldtia excavata f. albirosea?
