Sarcocaulon peniculinum

Post by Diane »

I have had this plant for at least 25 years, acquired from Bob Potter. Growth is imperceptible, but it flowers regularly every Autumn.

Wow. I never managed to keep one anywhere near that long. They are exceedingly slow, and it makes you wonder how old a plant like that must be.

I have a Sarcocaulon multifidum for quite some years now. It isn't big, about 5 centimeters, but still alive. Too small for flowers yet, I think. Too be honest, I don't really know well how to take care of it. I just give it water along with the other winter active plants. Seems to go well enough, but I get the idea they might need a bit closer attention to florish.

How is your watering scheme of these, Diane?

That's lovely and great that you have kept it for so long, I gave up on these as they survived for me but didn't look happy or healthy but I still have the book so I can look at the pictures  of how they should look.

varied collection of succulents and cacti but I especially like Euphorbia's, Ariocarpus and variegated agaves.
