Probably quite a while: Vázquez-Sánchez et al. had it within their concept of Turbinicarpus even after Rapicactus and Kadenicarpus are removed. https://academic.oup.com/botlinnean/art ... login=true It looks like Ariocarpus might be the oldest genus in that part of the tree if anybody wanted to classify these plants into fewer, larger genera.

That's a lovely plant, how old is it ?

Thanks Tina. The plant is at least 40 years old.
