These last two were bought from Frank at the Mesemb Show in Banstead year, they look as though they have A. capricorne sap in them somewhere!

Nice plants Diane, I do like astros and well done on the hybrids. I have some germinating now from my own plants and cant wait to see what they turn out like.

Very exciting crosses Diane!
I'm working on my own (between variously ribbed versions of A. m. 'Onzuka', A. m. v. nudum & A. a. 'suber kabuto') but my plants keep flowering out of sync. Thus I have lots of pollen stored in tubes and on the advice given in this forum have tried putting silica gel in some of the tubes and then freezing them. Will know soon if it's worked.
More photos please!

Re: Astro cvs and hybrids
It's interesting you mention about splitting - I guess some plants are more prone to it than others then?
I ask because I've only ever split two plants and both have been Notocactus/Parodia magnificus that just seem quite prone to it also.

Re: Astro cvs and hybrids
Lovely plants Diane,I don't usually bother with hybrids, but I do like the Astrophytums.
As for splitting, I used to have a problem with Turbinicarpus, until I learned to water them sparingly early in the season.Never had the problem with Super Kabuto or Asterias though.

Nice plants Diane.
I have just one small superkabuto, and often hold myself back
from the temptation of buying more of them, theyre great.
