Hi,
Just to let you know that the December issue of the Essex Succulent Review is now available at https://www.essexsucculentreview.org.uk/
This issue includes an article on 'Some smaller aloes' by Mike Cullen (HertsMike) and some more of Phil Hughes' (Lithos) amazing drawings in 'The Dodoes – Some interesting Brachystelmas'. This is the first in an occasional series on plants which may have been lost to cultivation.
Please note that from the next issue (March 2020) I am renaming the Essex Succulent Review as the Cactus and Succulent Review. The reason is that I now have a worldwide readership so the new name seems more appropriate. Nothing else will change, I will still be including the same type of non-technical and hopefully interesting and enjoyable articles. So if you download regularly from this link please keep on doing so.
Best wishes and thank you
Sheila

Superb issue again!
Looking forward to spend a few hours more carefully digesting it.

Re: Essex Succulent Review
I always look forward to the Essex Succulent Review arriving in my inbox, and Decmebr's edition is excellent as ever.
I feel a tad disappointed the name is changing, the title reflects for me the present and previous editors' efforts and hard work, and a bit of history. Which is not to say that the Review does not deserve its international reputation 100%, just that the distinctive current title sets it apart.
But what's in a name? What's important is the respect this work enjoys from myself and others.

Re: Essex Succulent Review
Hi,
Thank you to everyone for your comments.
Ragamala - this may sound a little strange, but in a way I agree with you. The name Essex Succulent Review is distinctive, and I have been dithering around for probably two years wondering whether or not to change it. I did make sure that both Eddy Harris, the previous editor and Len Newton its founder, were aware of the change before I announced it, and if either of them had objected I would have rethought the idea.
By its very nature of course an online publication is different to the original hard copy, and I do now have readers all over the world, for whom Essex is, lets face it, meaningless. However I will continue to make it clear that the C&SReview is a continuation of the Essex Succulent Review and not a replacement, and I hope that regular UK readers, who I value very highly, will just regard it as a cosmetic change.
Best wishes,

Re: Essex Succulent Review
I suppose Essex and Rest of the World Succulent Review is a bit of a mouthful, even without adding 'Cactus and'
