The one below is Stenocactus kellerianus, which also got the lopping treatment about a month ago. I think its now firm.

A lot of plants have got longer / more intensely coloured spines with the better light I have here (and/or the different compost / ventilation etc etc)

Looking good! I love stenocactus

I have a Stenocactus that I bought from Southfields at the Whitstable cactus mart labelled lau 1377 which has white ish yellow flowers, all the pictures of lau 1377 I see have the usual stripy purple flowers.
I will post some pictures when they open.

I grew this from seed that was from near San Gilo, Hidalgo. I have had various suggestions for Stenocactus lamellosus, which according to Illifle is lumped into S. obvallatus, though neither the NCL nor Lode's list mention the name. It is found in Britton and Rose, and also 1969 in an article El Género Echinofossulocactus in the journal Cactaceas y Suculentas Mexicanas, vol. 14, No. 1, at page 24.
