Fantastic spination on your S. kelleraneanus Ralph, the centrals look like they've been singed in a fire!ralphrmartin wrote: ↑Wed Apr 22, 2020 4:38 pm This is Stenocactus vaupelianus - another yellow one. In fact, it is a top cutting - the plant got about a foot tall, and looked a bit like a lollipop, so I cut the top off last year and rooted it down, and it now looks much more attractive.

The one below is Stenocactus kellerianus, which also got the lopping treatment about a month ago. I think its now firm.

A lot of plants have got longer / more intensely coloured spines with the better light I have here (and/or the different compost / ventilation etc etc)

Re: Stenocactus flowers!
I've taken the photo off as its still there on the first page.
I don't have a name but I do have a very similar plant.
I grew this from seed that was from near San Gilo, Hidalgo. I have had various suggestions for Stenocactus lamellosus, which according to Illifle is lumped into S. obvallatus, though neither the NCL nor Lode's list mention the name. It is found in Britton and Rose, and also 1969 in an article El Género Echinofossulocactus in the journal Cactaceas y Suculentas Mexicanas, vol. 14, No. 1, at page 24.
