You have done well, but it does sound like it's too dry as the plant see's it to give you the results you desire, you could try a couple in humidity with a bit more watering to convince the plants there is no risk to producing too many leaves and drain the tap root/tubers reserves.

And there it is - great flower on a strange looking plant. And it has a nice sweet scent.

And it doesn't open until the afternoon. Strange for what purports to be an astrophytum.

That plant has captivating charm
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I want to thank all of who chipped in. All seedlings are now planted in individual 2" square pots with slightly higher amount of humus. The plan is to water them more frequently. I shall update with additional photos in time, if they lived :) Cheers!
