When my normal parviflora flowered a few years back, I did manage to get some seed by selfing it, Of course that would rely on this form coming true from seed or at least a proportion of them, may be worth a try with some of the early flowers before you cut the top Diane?

Not sure of the genetics here, but I suspect you will not get the variegated form from seed, but you know, have a go with selfing and see what happens. What's there to loose?

By the sounds of it from comments posted here, you're more likely to get pups once flowering has finished. So I'd suggest you let the flower spike develop normally and just wait to see what happens. You may get pups, bulbils and seed if you're really really lucky

Seen on Feurtaventura last year is this an Agave? If it is then it is going mad with bulb production.

Just click on the semi visible writing on the bottom of the photo and it will magically appear the right way.

Another update on the progress of my Agave. I think the flower stem may have stopped growing - it's now 33" tall, and buds are developing nicely.

Had to take it outside to photograph it!

They are amazing things! The rosette at the bottom still looks in good shape too so hopefully it might persist long enough for offsets or bulbils so you don't lose it.

Remember this? Well, I’m absolutely delighted to report that I have TWO offsets developing from the base!!! I noticed them months ago just peeping out, and they are now developing nicely after I started watering.

I think it will be at least another year before they will be large enough to remove safely, but that’s fine by me.
