I'm sorry about the problem last night. A licence issue with zoom. The problem was caused by my upping the licence in December just in case and that automatically cancelled my existing 500 licence. All fixed.

As an experiment we did a live stream to facebook and I am staggered at the response. It was shared 61 times and had a total viewing of 3,800 views.

Now all we need to do is convert some of those viewing into branch and society members.

Fantastic talk and and a great advertisement for the society. I think I saw 520 on the Zoom talk at one point and a brilliant idea to have the first Facebook live talk based on such a popular Genus with the highest quality speaker.

We are always going to get niggles when trying anything new, but I think the numbers we got and the fact that the talk could be viewed afterwards on Facebook more than vindicates any minor issues that occurred.

Great work Ian (tu) (tu) (tu)

Ian, it was a minor hiccup, and it was great to see the Society in the 21st century! I genuinely giggled when you tried to paint Facebook, or social media in general, as nothing "dangerous" mentioning a few times that Zoom is social media as well

There were over a hundred combined upvotes (likes) for the talk on the various Reddit groups I posted it to so there must have been many more people that saw the adverts and didn’t click upvote.

There are now 169 users for the www.reddit.com/r/bcss page so it’s still going up quite well after it’s first month too.

It was a great talk, I wish I had started watching them earlier myself!

A short promotional video for the Society perhaps? Explaining the aims and benefits of the Society.

Though I see you already have one. Why can I find no mention of Biscuithead and the Biscuit Badgers on this forum? This video must be shared as widely as possible. The sound is a bit clearer on the version with just sound but the video is a masterpiece.

That is genius! And someone who knew their plants made those models!

Superb, could have been an outtake from Village Green Preservation Society, how has this remained hidden since last March! British talent at its best. Someone must know a bit more about it??

I think it may have been mentioned in a journal? but I'm not certain. I know I had seen it before Ian shared it after one of the zoom talks last year.
I think one of the band had been a BCSS member a while back.

I've just been reading up on it, the BCSS connection is Leeds Branch, wonderful bit of hidden Yorkshire talent that deserves a wider audience.
