Echinopsis something

Post by Mike P »

This came from the remains of the collection in Devon and was originally bought from Ralph Northcott When he was in Exeter. Unloved for many years it’s now come to London and rewards the attention with this display.
No idea what is is as the label is long gone.

No need for label IMHO, appearance speaks for itself :)

A spectacular display Mike, no matter what species it is. Clearly enjoying it's new home👍

That's lovely. It's similar to a plant I have labelled as E. ancistrophora kratochviliana.

So is it possible it’s night flowering? I expected the sunshine to open the flowers a little but instead they closed after lunch.

Are they pollinated by moths?
Or ......?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Then it's moths most probably.

Amazingly it’s produced a second flush of flowers.

Gorgeous! These flowers remind me why I love cacti over other plants.
