I think many Asclepiads are self-fertile, I get pods on various plants most years. I had a pod on Huernia piersii last year, and the seedlings are all very uniform, but not yet flowered, so time will tell.

A few pods on my lophantha today, a few have gone black and have been brought indoors for drying.

Best regards
Dave

That's a lot of pods. If they were yellow I'd be thinking "Minions".

On 1st Sept 2020 I posted a picture of the seed pod on Stapelia leendertziae (see above)

Today 5th May 2021 it has just opened (split, exploded?)

Eight months. Seems a long time for the fruit to ripen or maybe that's because of low winter temperatures, although the greenhouse is usually 7C minimum. Is it normal for the pods to hang around this long?

A bit of collecting and sowing to do this afternoon!

Quite normal for Stapeliads pods. They usually ripen about 9-12 months after fertilisation. You can put tape, wire or rubber band around the ripening pod to prevent them from dispersing the fluffy seeds everywhere!

These lilliputian pods are small; however as a proportion of the plant size they are really quite large (albeit on their side as the photo has done an auto-rotate)!
