I have never known anything such an outrageous and unsympathetic statement from someone who has had responsibility as administrator and indeed a trustee of the society.

Time for changes.
Do you want the job?

I wasn't made aware it was still an ongoing issue untill now and now that I am i will investigate further, filling my inbox with reports of the forum being slow will achieve nothing but prevent me from looking into it!

Bill
From an "IT support" point of view that statement is very accurate - notifying about a known issue rarely helps, unless there is many that need prioritising, which doesn't seem to be the case here.

Currently ok but midmorning it was appallingly slow. Likewise it's slow mid evening. I've always suspected it was the lack of bandwidth at the weakest point of the WWW multiplied by the demand i.e. I've had my breakfast ... time to check out the forum (400 times over)

I think the internet in general is just slower at the moment. I've done a few tests and we are between 8Mbps and 13 Mbps. Last time I checked I think we were around the 15Mbps.

I do also think that Ad-blockers will slow things down and I think more and more browsers are having them as standard. To get rid of all the ads on the PC I have 8 blockers running......

Someone on ringing the landline has also cut off our internet a few times (though that may be a different issue, partly solved after speaking to ISP chat).

Zooming yesterday and today and the sound was cutting out quite badly, just like it did with the Society Zoom meetings weeks ago.

A wired connection will help (I realise not practical/possible for mobile devices).

That's a common issue. It often means the ADSL filter is wrongly positioned in the circuit or is at the end of its effective life. Been there .... done that ..... painfully!

Thanks. (tu) (tu)

We'll try replacing it to see if it makes a difference. That was the area that the chat operator was directing us to.

My latest post went straight in. Not the usual long delay.

I think Bill frightened it. (tu)
