You can buy seeds from variegated plants but it doesn't mean the seedlings will be variegated. Most will just be green in my experience but there are some seed strains that do more reliably (a variegated foxglove, Cornish mallow are non-succulent ones I'm aware of).NaZzAtAzEr wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 10:52 pmAlso am I right that you can't buy variegated seeds?Homalocheohala texensis variegata
Which seeds did you order this year?

Yeah that's what I meant. So it is basically misleading advertising it as such?

Re: Which seeds did you order this year?
Not really if that's the plant the seeds have come from. If they're saying the seedlings will all come up variegated then then that would definitely be misleading if it wasn't a seed strain that did come variegated from seed.NaZzAtAzEr wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 12:23 pm Yeah that's what I meant. May be misleading advertising, but who is going to chase the supplier in another country where the advertising standards and enforcement may be different ..... and who will foot the legals bill?
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I sowed some seeds from a variegated astrophytum and didn't get one but you see other people seem to get some, maybe its a more dominant gene in some plants/lines

Re: Which seeds did you order this year?
i think it's mostly depend on the variegation genetic source,
from my experience, it's really depend - in my Obergonia, from variegated plants i got almost 50% seedling variegated, but on other plants it's not was the situation (0%)

Don't tempt me, I'm trying to leave the dark side
After all, some English Lady filled my growing area with the 'consequences of her seed' so I have to keep repeating to myself: follow the light, leave SA side and go to CA...
