My first batch of seed, from Piltz, contains mostly different forms of Lobivia Jojoiana and Mediolobivia pygmaea. I sowed 25 packets about two weeks ago and have good germination already in 19 pots. My seeds are sown under LED lights in a heated, humid, propagator.
I’m waiting for the Mam soc seed and then the BCSS list.
Which seeds did you order this year?

They say on their home page that the nursery is closed to visitors over winter, but is their seed delivery also closed?Cidermanrolls wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 9:14 am My first batch of seed, from Piltz, contains mostly different forms of Lobivia Jojoiana and Mediolobivia pygmaea. I would be surprised if the Aloinopsis luckhoffii was really from Steinkopf. So do you believe the name or the locality? If the locality then perhaps Stomatium alboroseum has been misidentified.

Stomatium alboroseum
There's a link here with photos of plants with that field number: https://ameblo.jp/sedumgarden/entry-12507905986.html. Stomatium alboroseum seems a good call.
That's interesting Terry. In part because I've ordered the same seed.

Re: Which seeds did you order this year?
I've impressed myself! The link to plants grown from seed of that collection certainly look like the Stomatium. I suspect that this material has been cultivated for a while, so it is amazing that nobody has questioned the ID, particularly the seed producer/vendor.
Looking at Ralph's database, there are three candidates for the RH acronym, none of whom are well-known in the mesemb world.

Re: Which seeds did you order this year?
It's Ralf Hillmann. Looking at his field number list he collected quite a bit in South Africa/Namibia.

Re: Which seeds did you order this year?
I tested the germination of 5 of the packets and nothing has sprouted. I wasn't that surprised. Some of the packets contained an unlikely amount of seed, several hundred in one, and this is always a sign that the seed is old. I don't know why suppliers do this, I don't care how many seeds they send me if none of them is going to germinate. I've sent them an email to complain, at £1 a packet I'd really like my money back, but I'm not expecting much joy.Nick_G wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 11:20 am Mainly just some Gymnocalycium spegazzinii from Cactus Moravia. About 30 different localities and seed that I presume was habitat collected. There's a part of me that would just like to have a greenhouse full of one species only and spegazzinii would do nicely.
