Rebutia

Post by Zigs »

Wonder if anyone would be so good as to help with this one? We recently bought a Rebutia that was apparently from a late member's collection that was being sold off by a relative.

It was sold to us as a "Rebutia mitioa" but we've drawn a blank on that one, any ideas good people?

Hi Zigs
I think the plant you have is Aylostera pseudodeminuta
Your old label most likely says Rebutia nitida ( not mitioa ) which was a very old name for a plant which was moved to Rebutia pseudodeminuta, which itself has now become Aylostera pseudodeminuta
Hope this helps

Thanks folks

That makes sense, the seller could have mis read the handwritten label.

Looks like we've got some propagating to do then

As Ray says, I suspect the original label said Rebutia nitida. I have a plant with that name which looks pretty similar.

Its variously considered to be a form of (now) Aylostera deminuta or A. pseudodeminuta, as others have suggested.
