There is only a very old list on the website: https://www.society.bcss.org.uk/index.p ... -list.html. From five years ago!
Would be nice if the seed list (and ordering information) could be placed online as soon as Cactusworld has been send out to members. That way all members around the world will have at least a fair chance of ordering / requesting digitally.

No mention of last year or this year.

I second this (despite being one of the lucky ones who read the current issue front to back already). And let's add an option to order digitally to the wish list as well!

If I remember correctly to last year, this has all been discussed before and people rightly brought up issues with members who aren't digitally inclined losing out if this change is made so we ought to consider that whatever happens it may have downsides for some members.

Very valid point, on the other side we have postal randomness added to the equation, which seems just a little more fair, as it hits depending on location (I guess).edds wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:07 pm If I remember correctly to last year, this has all been discussed before and people rightly brought up issues with members who aren't digitally inclined losing out if this change is made so we ought to consider that whatever happens it may have downsides for some members.
I am thinking about batch processing orders after e.g. a month (which should give enough time for both digital and postal orders to come) with some sort of fair seed assignment, but this already sounds like a decent research paper title (and is off the topic here!).

We went around this discussion last year .... at the same time .... ad nauseum.MatDz wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:27 pmVery valid point, on the other side we have postal randomness added to the equation, which seems just a little more fair, as it hits depending on location (I guess).edds wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:07 pm If I remember correctly to last year, this has all been discussed before and people rightly brought up issues with members who aren't digitally inclined losing out if this change is made so we ought to consider that whatever happens it may have downsides for some members.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I'd risk saying if the same topic is discussed every year, the current solution isn't satisfying, but this is my last comment in this thread about the December journal issue.

Exactly! The MSG don’t seem to have these problems. The list is emailed, no money sent until order done, PayPal exact amount, random order processing. So much simpler for all concerned.
First it was orchids, then, since c.2001, cacti and succulents. I'm into South African plants, mainly conos, lithops and haworthias, with a few cacti, especially 'posh' mamms, turbs and other smalls. Now it’s stapeliads as well...

Re: December Cactus world is here
Still waiting, post is highly erratic. I'd support a change of when the seed list comes out. March isn't too late to sow seeds, and avoids the postal chaos near Xmas.
Ideally though you could detach the timing of the seed list from that of the journal completely, with members getting an email with list attached, select online from the new website and pay by Paypal to complete the transaction. Still randomise the orders to prevent huge peak.
