Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

The piece on South American cacti is going to take me some time to get my head around. I remember the arguments around splitters and lumpers when Herr Reppenhagen published his views on the genus Mammillaria and I believe he went too far splitting, but the lumping of so much under Echinopsis is difficult for me to grasp. The science might say Cleistocactus is really Echinopsis, but as a grower, I think we may need a new type of naming convention if that is the case.

Perhaps like with Ceropegia, someone will eventually suggest putting all globular, opuntioid and columnar cacti in one genus - Cactus. And everyone will ignore them.

Not here either! Is it online anywhere?
First it was orchids, then, since c.2001, cacti and succulents. I'm into South African plants, mainly conos, lithops and haworthias, with a few cacti, especially 'posh' mamms, turbs and other smalls. Now it’s stapeliads as well...

An excellent job from all involved. And some great non-cacti succulents on the list too - an amazing range of mesembs and some really different things. Can't wait to hopefully start growing some if I am successful in getting the ones requested!
