Clas Ohlson used to do a wonderful electronic timer called the esic ax300. None have failed and some are over 5 years old now. Unfortunately, Clas Ohlson moved to the Amazon so I won't be visiting again. The other one I still have after years is an unbranded square one. I have no idea where I got it but it is simple and intuitive to programme and totally reliable.

Re: Grow lights
If you have a reliable internet connection , you could consider smart plugs as a timer . Lots are surprisingly rated for 1.8 Kw and it gives you the added bonus of being able to control them remotely.

Re: Grow lights
To clarify, they don't need internet connection to operate, just for the initial setup and potential manual control.

Re: Grow lights
I just got some Masterplug digital timers from Argos. I have always loved Argos as the name comes from the Ancient Greek for idle or lazy. I can't tell you how reliable they are yet, I just have them charging. I can tell you they are narrow enough to sit comfortably side-by-side on a fourboard (4 socket extension lead or whatever you call it). They only overhang at the top by under 5cm.

Having searched again I found the square ones I mentioned are probably from Wilkos. They won't sit next to each other.
