Terry Smale

Post by topsy »

Dear All,

I am so very sorry to be the bearer of the news that after being rushed into hospital on Sunday evening and undergoing an emergency operation, Terry passed away early this evening. Jennifer was with him.

A sad loss for our community. Terry was immensely knowledgeable, always willing to share his understanding and experience with others in a scientific and rational way.

Oh that is sad news. He will be missed. I only recently got to know him. He was most generous with his knowledge.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I don't have much to say other than it's a huge loss to the family and wider community, and that I should have tried harder to visit him and his collection last year. Sad day.

Dreadful news. Sincere condolences to Jennifer.
I never had the privilege of meeting Terry but he was extremely kind to me and very helpful with advice and encouragement over the last few months.
A great loss to us all.

Dreadful news, Terry contributed so much to our hobby and was so helpful to us all. My thoughts are with Jennifer.
I used to say to him that I always read 'Terry's words of wisdom' on the Forum each morning. It's really sad to read this.

I never met Terry 'in real life' but he was immensely kind with his time and advice on here and via the BCSS Q&A he did.
I am shocked and saddened and it's very sobering news. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
