Is that not the only plant flowering now, or is self fertile (which would need another flower anyway, right?)?

Pattock wrote: Sat Feb 20, 2021 9:08 pmAccording to POWO this is Strophocactus wittii. Anyone care to discuss whether Rowley or Britton & Rose were correct?
It's Strophocactus, since it's only a fairly distant relation of the selenicerei. https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... the_genera (which also contains photos of the flowers)
So, it is not even a mooncandle, let alone a moonflower? This unique plant deserves a unique name. One that someone can search for on the internet in ten years time and still have some hope of finding it. One that has not been used of half a dozen other, unrelated plants for over 230 years.

I don't know. Perhaps some well-respected society that champions these plants could make representations to CUBG?

It has only neen a few hours, it might get them both back in the news-stream for another 15 minutes of fame.

Deamia is also covered in that paper I linked to, where it turns out to be neither a Selenicereus not a Strophocactus.

I love the antics with a tape measure... but no knife? I'd have to slice that in half at some point, I think!

Shirt change after 10 seconds. The t-shirt looked suspiciously like an Oxford shade of blue.
