An abundance of pollinators means it needn't expend the extra energy required to keep it open longer? :shrugs:

The bud is now showing some external colour, I will be very surprised if it hasn’t opened in the next night or two

Interested in most genera of small to medium ‘globular’ cacti, large flowering Mammillaria, Epiphyllum, Trichocereus, Hildewintera, Cleistocactus etc, small Agaves, Lithops, Titanopsis, Faucaria etc, plus hybridising.
