Hi!
I'm interested in trying to build up my collection and am looking for such plants as Sarcocaulon, Adenium, Othonna etc. Are there any good UK suppliers?

Chris Barber at Williams Cacti was doing this type of plant. As far as I know he lives in Yorkshire. I’ve bought a few from him at various venues.

Many thanks for that Jayne! I've had a look on their website and an impressive looking list. I'll contact them - I suspect travelling to buy plants not essential business so will either have to wait or look at delivery!

If I was you I would wait before buying this sort of plant, its best to buy them when they are awake & actively growing, you could buy an expensive lump that 'won't wake up & get going', I also like to give them a bit of a prod to check for no rot & roots. A bit difficult if you do mail order of course but surely lockdown will end soooon!

I've been growing Adeniums from seed for years - obesums, arabicums and somalense mainly. I'll have some available fairly soon, germination has been very good so I'll have extras. Might also have a few other caudiciform types, including Petopentia natalensis and Dioscorea elephantipes as they germinated better than expected too !

Travelling to buy plants might not be considered essential travel but for some strange reason, whilst garden centres can currently remain open, retail plant nurseries are on the list of businesses that have to currently remain closed.

So, if they add pot pourri and ridiculously expensive crisps and pickles to their range, they can open?

You could get in touch with the Hull BCSS branch secretary and he might be able to advise if any local members have anything on your list they are selling as a number of Bridlington and Hull members use to sell at events

I'd love to discuss a trade of a few of A. arabicum and A. somalense when you know exactly how many spares you have.

Obviously there is a difference, but apart from maybe a garden centre stocking other things like compost, tools and other sundries I am struggling to see what that difference is......
