Unless you're buying large amounts, it's the weight and therefore postage costs that mount up. If you only need a bag or two it is probably best to pick it up from a local garden centre.
I have bought some flint chick grit online as I couldn't get it locally though.

Weight is always the problem when buying mail order.
Just not cost effective to buy (or sell) something as heavy as gravel.

Dig out a bedrock map of the UK. Have a look at what might be available locally. You might be lucky and find a local quarry.
Been looking myself lately and found that local Landscapers often stock large quantities of grit. In fairness mostly the bigger stuff, 10-20mm, but you might be lucky.

Would a list of suppliers on this site be useful?
A list for those that deliver nationally like Kaizen Bonsai and then lists for any good local ones people know about like the pumice guy Tina mentioned.
Ones I’ve used and seen mentioned are:
Kaizen Bonsai online.
Zac’s Bonsai on Amazon.
Specialist Aggregates in Rugeley, online and pickup (I think)
Derbyshire Aggregates online and pickup.

Re: Where can I buy cactus gravel from online?
I’ve pretty much stopped using decorative top dressing as I realised it was delaying drying of the soil. I now use a very open mix which forms its own top layer after any fines have settled a touch.
There was a super ebay supplier of all sorts or aggregates, including a lovely dark volcanic grit, in Germany. Brexit put paid to that.
I still use Kaisen bonsai, but plan your order to optimise postage costs, there can be a shocking increase when you add just one more bag....
If you can get to you local garden centre, horticultural grit will do a good job, but some brands do need the fines washing out before use. Just do this a little at a time in a kitchen sieve, running it under an outside tap for a few seconds. Or punch some holes in the bottom of the bag and run a hose in to the top of the bag until the washings run clear.
