All my plants are kept indoors and I started collecting in August 2018. Favourites are Pachyphytum, Echeveria, Haworthia, Mesembs and oddball Cacti.

Hi,

To me, it looks like an Echinopsis that has had too much potassium / not enough nitrogen.

Interested in most genera of small to medium ‘globular’ cacti, large flowering Mammillaria, Epiphyllum, Trichocereus, Hildewintera, Cleistocactus etc, small Agaves, Lithops, Titanopsis, Faucaria etc, plus hybridising.

Very odd, I presume its a hybrid. The body is reminiscent of a spineless Parodia Buiningii.

I'd say that this is definitely an Echinopsis of some sort, which has coloured beautifully during the winter dormancy. I doubt very much that it will retain this colour once it is watered freely and comes into growth, but if it does retain this colouring it would certainly be worthy of propagation. I very much doubt that this coloration is anything to do with any mineral deficiency.

If not a hybrid, the only species this could be is Lobivia ancistrophora/E. subdenudata.

The shape is just like that of my E. subdenudata, agreed. But my E. subdenudata. is grass green, and shiny...

That shows some green. The person that posted it said they are going to try and contact the person that gifted the plant to find out.

They seem frequently to turn purple but some are happy to stay green. I have a few of the ancistrophora clan that never turn green and remain purple all the time, to varying degrees. Shiny is unusual, though, so much so that I now want to see a pic!
