Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

That (and the previous mention of fragrance) took me back to my childhood. I had a Faucaria when I was a teeenager. The flower looked similar and smelled strongly of artificial banana. Lovely little thing.

The one I had was sold as Faucaria tigrina but I suspected it was not, even in my innocent uncynical youth. Bought at Keymarket supermarket which had a little garden section.

A couple of decades ago, I used to have a small lawn that was just dandelions with a few daisies in between. The most spectacular display, first of solid gold then of solid silver. The bees loved it, of course. The rest of the year it was a beautiful emerald green and so easy to care for. I passed the road a few years ago and saw that the new owner had asphalted the entire back yard except for a strip of traditionally boring lawn.

I have Mesembs seeds now germinated. And I have hopes.
