Since writing that last post I’ve thought of two though didn’t know either one recycled old collections. I know it’s GOC, I spent my first 20 years there.

Re: At last .... flowers
Thanks guys.
Your thoughts have encouraged me to research on the possibles.
I would agree that it would look more like Gymnocactus beguinii than anything else.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Are you sure that isn't a Turbinicarpus beguinii?
You might just have to amend your growing conditions if it is a different genus

Or even a Rapicactus beguinii
Like the valdezianus discussed a few days ago, there are many names you could use.

But it thought it was something that it wasn't.
Now it knows differently it could be wrong growing conditions
It is lucky plants can't read.

Thelocactus beguinii is one of the many names you could use
Phil Crewe, BCSS 38143. Mostly S. American cacti, esp. Lobivia, Sulcorebutia and little Opuntia
