Since writing that last post I’ve thought of two though didn’t know either one recycled old collections. I know it’s GOC, I spent my first 20 years there.

The only Thelocactus with that colour flowers is Thelo Lausseri and the spination isn't right. I'd agree with Gymnocactus Beguinii.

Your thoughts have encouraged me to research on the possibles.
I would agree that it would look more like Gymnocactus beguinii than anything else.

Are you sure that isn't a Turbinicarpus beguinii?
You might just have to amend your growing conditions if it is a different genus

An interesting thought ..... but if it has survived since late 2018 / early 2019 in the same place in the GH?

But it thought it was something that it wasn't.
Now it knows differently it could be wrong growing conditions
