Maybe its the little blue slug pellets that you feed it with that make it flower so beautifully!

They look very like the ferric phosphate slug pellets I use, so perhaps they do add iron and phosphorus.David Neville wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 5:36 pm Maybe its the little blue slug pellets that you feed it with that make it flower so beautifully!

Re: Mammillaria longiflora ssp. stampferi
Thanks guys!
Ah yes the slug pellets. I’d forgot about them actually. I’ve usually removed them by now but I added a few over the winter due to a nice chunk of flesh being eaten by a slug last winter. It seems this Mamm is their favourite so I wasn’t taking any chances this time. Luckily it recovered well as the damage was quite significant.
I’ve lost a few early flower buds on some of my Echinocereus this year due to slugs / snails. I don’t like to use the pellets but it’s a bit disheartening to head out to the greenhouse to check on how the buds are developing and find half have been eaten overnight!

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
