BCSS' doc is a pretty good start, I think the zip lock bag is the simplest way to go, especially if you have just one or two pots to sow:

Probably not the easiest one to try starting with.
Maybe try some Rebutia seeds as a comparison and see how you get on with both.

As an adult, inorganic soil, a deep pot, regular watering, and it does well for me.

Lucky you!
They are very easy to germinate, and then quite hard to keep going afterwards.
I'd seriously consider trying (say) Astrophytum myriostigma, Ferocactus or Rebutia first.
With many cacti, germination is the easy bit. The next 2 or 3 months often leads to total failure with beginners. Gaining experience with easier / more readily available species first may be wise.
