I have grown this from seeds named as Eriosyce iquiquensis, but I feel a little doubtful. What do you think it is?
I'm wondering if this could be an Eriosyce paucicostata?
The flowers appear to bloom reddish ...Eriosyce uncertain...

Re: Eriosyce uncertain...
Hi Christer
Great photo and plant.
iquiquensis was at one time an ssp. of Neoporteria ( Eriosyce ) recondita and that plant looks like a Neoporteria recondita to me. Rather than a member of the taltalensis/paucicostata group.

Re: Eriosyce uncertain...
Subspecies iquiquensis was defined as having yellow flowers and dense (or not so dense) wool, with ssp recondita having reddish flowers and only bristles. My only E. recondita plant has hardly any spines, but it is the vexata variety so probably not a good comparison. Would seem to be closer to ssp iquiquensis although it is usually considered a synonym of ssp recondita.

The delicate pink edging of the petals is delightful
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
