I think they should have got you in, to video the moon flower opening.
I hope you don't mean the echinocereus video was a disaster. It was very good.
It can be difficult loading a big file size onto the forum.
Look forward to seeing more, though hearing the process I understand their might not be many.
Thank you
I'm flattered that you should think I might have been able to record such a prestigious event.
The Echinocereus video met my project objectives. Yes .... loading the file onto the forum took several attempts. The compression process value in the software has been noted for next time.
My disappointment was that I expected an Echinopsis hybrid to open early in the morning, since I have had a few do this. It opened last evening, and lasted about 18 hours before it faded. I'm waiting to see if the second of the three buds opens in the next few minutes. All of the kit is set up ready to film. If it opens tomorrow then it will be missed as I shall not be able to capture it.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

What an unusual and pleasant colour

I thought I'd posted some photos yesterday, but they haven't appeared, so here we go again.
A few to add. Echinocereus coccineus was first to get going,
Ech coccineus2_cr.jpg
building up after a few days
Echcoccineus5cr.jpg
The stems are somewhat marked, unfortunately.
Coccineus has been superceded by pentalophus. Not the most impressive looking plant when not in flower, sprawling around.
Ech pentalophus_r.jpg
Then it opens its first flower, twice as big as coccineus
Ecu pentalophus1r.jpg
Then it really gets into the swing of it
Ech pentalophus5r.jpg
Followed by scheeri gettting ready. Though I do wonder whether this is actually salm-dyckianus.
Ech scheeri1r.jpg
Fully into action

Great plant Mark, those buds really look good with the white spines , and a lovely shade of red. Please post another photo when they're open.

Echinocereus viridiflorus v. davisii SB 426 (Brewster Co, TX), sown March 2019, photographed 28/4/21.
There are 9 plants in the 2 pots shown, 6 of them were in flower.
None of the plant bodies are bigger than about 15mm - a proper miniature!
